As Suffolk County Sheriff, Steve’s mission is to serve the citizens and communities of Boston, Revere, Chelsea, and Winthrop. As Sheriff for more than nine years, his main priority continues to be to safeguard our community by changing attitudes and rebuilding lives. Steve is currently running for re-election to continue advocating for a better system of justice.

Sheriff Tompkins manages operations at Suffolk County House of Correction, the Nashua Street Jail, and the Civil Process Division. He also oversees 1,000+ staff in the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department. Learn more about Steve’s five key initiatives to continue improving the corrections system.
