STATE REPRESENTATIVE AARON MICHLEWITZ ENDORSES SHERIFF TOMPKINS

State Representative for the Third Suffolk District Aaron Michlewitz endorsed Sheriff Tompkins to continue serving as Suffolk County Sheriff. 

"Sheriff Tompkins' work around public safety, focus on increased addiction recovery and mental health services is greatly needed and I'm proud to be able to give him my endorsement to continue serving the people of Suffolk County," said Rep. Michlewitz. 

"In the time that I have known him, Representative Michlewitz has shown himself to be a dedicated community leader and valued friend," said Sheriff Tompkins. Whether as Chair of the Joint Committee on Financial Services or working to improve health and safety, Representative Michlewitz has always served the people of his district well, and I'm honored to have him as a supporter." 

Appointed to the position in 2013, Sheriff Tompkins won election in 2014 as a first-time candidate with over 83% of the vote. As the Sheriff of Suffolk County, Tompkins manages all operations at the Suffolk County House of Correction, the Nashua Street Jail and the Civil Process Division. In addition to providing care, custody and rehabilitative support for inmates and pretrial detainees, Tompkins also oversees a management, security, and administrative staff of over 1,000. Sheriff Tompkins holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Boston College and a Master's Degree in Public Affairs from the University of Massachusetts.
